We recently wrapped up our second show with Artsies. Being part of the Artsies family has been fantastic for my kids. Both of them started out very shy, and seeing their growth - getting up on stage saying lines, singing little solos, and dancing, loud and proud, has been amazing to see. Not only will Libby and Joey hold their hands through the process, and encourage them to grow (without pressure), but the experienced kids are also there to help support and guide them - what amazing role models! Being part of the Artsies family is not just a term we use, but is absolutely how we feel. In addition, I am so impressed that my children are learning about everything that's needed for a production to come together - and the quality of the production is fantastic. It's clear that Libby and Joey do this for the love of art and to support the youth in our community. They put 110% into making sure everyone has the best experience. On a final note, as someone who needs all the information upfront, I really appreciate how well-organized everything is. You will get all the information you need, and then some, in regular emails. It's very easy to speak to them about anything - they will always make time for you. I highly recommend signing your child up - they'll have so much fun while developing so many important life skills. You will not be disappointed.
We were attracted to signing up for this camp for a couple of reasons - people in the community recommended them (through social media), the website was full of great information and they were so great at answering all our questions - very quick to respond and put our mind at ease. I felt really confident in their ability to help my children grow while also having fun.
My kids loved learning the songs. They still sing songs around the house from previous productions (and I might too!). Both are very shy, so standing on stage and saying/singing their own lines definitely pushed them out of their comfort zone, but with the support of Libby and Joey, plus the whole ARTSies family they were able to do it. It was amazing to see!
As I mentioned in my overall review, the more experienced kids help guide the more inexperienced participants. It's beautiful to watch the support and friendships grow with all age groups. Such fantastic role models for my kids too. As complete beginners my kids never felt like they don't belong there. They were welcomed by everyone with open arms from the very first class.
My kids gained so much confidence in themselves while attending. They also interacted with so many different ages which really helped with their communication skills. Having the solo lines on stage (which everyone has the opportunity for) pushed them out of their comfort zone, but they really enjoyed the moment and I could feel how proud they were of themselves for doing it. The support provided to get them to that stage, ready to do that, is priceless.
Libby and Joey are so fantastic. I cannot say enough good things about them. Before we joined the program I had a million questions. Libby was patient and answered every single one. During the first production, I had questions throughout the process and they always made time to answer them. They are available by phone, text, and in person, and are always very quick to respond.
Send your kids with an open mind, willing to learn and work hard, but also to enjoy the process. It's a lot of fun for all participants while also learning some invaluable life lessons. If you're hesitant I would give it a try and see what happens. My very shy kids have gained a lot of confidence through the process. The program is absolutely worth it.
