Diabetes Camps

Diabetes camps offer specialization in caring for the needs of diabetic children, including an understanding of the need for blood sugar monitoring, the ready availability of Epi-Pens and monitoring of exertion and activity levels. Learn more from the camps below, about what they have to offer in relation to diabetes care.

A camp to come back to. Recent research shows that campers at such camps often come away with improved control and understanding of their blood sugar. Camps for children and youth focused on diabetes have a high return rate for campers. The camping environment is used as a teaching opportunity for children with diabetes and this allows them to gain skills in managing the disease considerably.

Kids find out they're not alone. Children with diabetes may sometimes feel like nobody understands how they feel or know what it is like to live with diabetes. Diabetes camps help affected children and adults to deal with the isolation that may set in. The fellowship of other kids facing the same challenges is beneficial to all campers and helps them form great friendships. The social interaction and team activities help campers forget about their condition and have a relaxed time with friends and other members.

Summer camp is a wonderful experience for any child and as any parent is aware, diabetes should not hold anyone back from anything. Camps listed below include day camps in larger centers as well as overnight camps in remote areas. Diabetes camp is bound to be a wonderful experience your child will remember forever. Almost all diabetes camps offer scholarships for those in need.
