Round Square schools in Canada are part of the worldwide association of schools allowing students to travel between schools to experience multiple cultures, participate in community service and simply experience a variety of learning environments. Round Square School Philosophy
Round square schools propagate a philosophy encouraging the growth of the "whole person." There is a list of round square IDEALS that serve as pillars of the Round Square philosophy. These are Internationalism, Democracy, Environment, Adventure, Leadership and Service.
Students at any school that participates in the Round Square program (from schools around the world) can request and receive an exchange to any other school for a semester at a time. There are roughly 60 schools around the world comprising Round Square schools.
Round Square International Service Projects may include building projects in less privileged areas, funded by a private fund.
Why is it called Round Square?
The naming of the program "Round Square" originates from a 17th century building at Gordonstoun School in Scotland, one of the founding schools of the program.
