Academies

The word academy applies to a number of private and boarding schools. In traditional usage, an academy was an institution of higher learning, although in modern usage it has come to mean a school that is above elementary and below college or university. In that way, many of schools that list themselves as private high schools can be called academies and that is what you will find listed below. (You’ve come to the right place!)

Several schools that list with ourkids.net specifically refer to themselves in their school names as academies, aside from that broader designation above. In some cases, these academies have listed on our website for a very long time.
