Blyth Academy, a Toronto based private school, will give each of it’s students a handheld computer instead of this year’s text books.
The Sony Reader, a small tablet computer roughly the size of a moleskine notebook, can hold all of the texts a student will need for their entire high school career plus any books they would like to read for pleasure. Coupled with the on-board organization and note-taking system the Reader can drop the backpack-weight of these studious teens.
Parent’s will notice a difference in their wallets, too. The Reader will save each student $700/year in text book costs.
