It had been eons since I had last rubbed shoulders with this group, and almost twenty-five years since I first agreed to sit on what was then called the Integration Committee. I was struck by how far our society and particularily organized children's camping has come in its understanding and openness to providing social-recreation experiences for children, youth and families. ]]></description>

		<description><![CDATA[At the first ever Our Kids Summer Camp Expo, representatives and staff from over forty-five different summer camps filled the hall with booths equipped with beach balls, wooden cabin-like roofs, as well as frisbees, arts and crafts, and even mini-s'mores! Each camp brought it's own slice of summer to meet with over 600 curious families, consisting of parents as well as their budding campers, whether they browsed through their options in strollers or in tightly-packed huddles of teenage friends.]]></description>

During my  first summer at camp I learned that if I let Brent and Cam choose archery for the group one day, they would let Jason and I pick sailing the next day. I learned that If we all kept out part of the tent tidy we always passed group inspection. I also learned that we didn’t always agree on everything and that only by listening and compromising could we get through the summer.]]></description>
