How can schools help their students better prepare for the challenges of university life?
Schools can simply offer a challenging, structured and nurturing boarding environment to help students with the transition from high school to university.

Since 1899, St. Andrew’s College has long prided itself on turning boys into “men of character” throughout its long and illustrious history.
With the launch of their new Transition UP (University Prep) program, St. Andrew’s College (SAC) is taking another step to help ensure that their boys are well prepared for the difficult transition of moving from high school to university.
This initiative, in its second year, is a boarding program for final year students that allows them to build independence, and improves confidence and maturity – valuable qualities that ensure success.
“I’ve heard many times from our graduates and from their parents of the benefits of the structure of boarding life, which teaches them how to balance their time and activities, enabling them to make the most of their St. Andrew’s College experience and leave the school well-prepared for academia,” says Michael Roy, director of admissions.
Not surprisingly, an increasing number of parents are exploring the opportunity of enrolling their sons in this boarding program. Last year alone, eight day students moved into residence for their final year of high school. These numbers are expected to rise in the upcoming years.
What do students and parents think about the program? Well, what better way to see and understand the Transition UP program than to attend St. Andrew’s College’s upcoming Open House event on October 1, 2011.
Join students, parents and school staff from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for an opportunity to get a personal tour of St. Andrew’s College.
Chat with admission staff, faculty and current students about their experiences with the Transition UP program and find out if St. Andrew’s is right for you.
