A Thin Line – resource for students
by Travis Allison“Sexting” (sending a text message with sexual content or even a revealing picture) is truly a 21st century concern.
The problem when it comes to student-aged teens and tweens is problem of boundaries. According to the A Thin Line website (sponsored by MTV) over half of people who share “sexts” will forward them on to more than one other person. Once an image or some sexual text has been sent out it can be used for fodder for bullying or sexual harassment.
The A Thin Line website draws attention to several kinds of online harassment and provides a place for teens to talk about their problems with intimidation, digital stalking and bullying.
This sort of brings it into perspective: “There’s a thin line between him and the whole school”.
For some concrete ideas on how to deal with these “Thin Line” problems please take a look at (and talk over with your kids if you are a parent) the Take Control page of this site.
