Back in 1999, Our Kids Publications (OKP) launched a magazine devoted to helping parents choose the best education for their children. Our Kids Go To School was not a large magazine, nor was it particularly well known, but it was a big idea and it took hold. Ten issues later, many things have changed dramatically, but one thing remains as true as ever to those humble beginnings.
OKP is continually finding new ways to reach out to parents and help them make important decisions about their children’s education. This blog is just the newest endeavour.
Each year a new Our Kids Go To School magazine is published with articles that offer support, advice and perspectives on the private school process, from how to choose a school to what school life is like and everything in between. You can read the digital version of the 2008-09 edition of Our Kids Go To School magazine online.
It is our intention, through this blog, to bring to you as many voices as possible with input, experience, advice and stories. Our hope is that our readers will actively contribute to the blog as well, through comments, submitting ideas or photos, or even writing for the blog. The advantage of this format is that we don’t have to wait a year to share a great idea, story or photo. After all, one of the things we kept hearing at our latest round of school fairs was that most parents felt that a website that brought all of these concerns into once place would be helpful.
Of course, when you’re ready to compare schools directly, you can always click right over to the incredible directory of private school listings.
In the meantime, welcome to the Our Kids School blog, the Chalkboard.
