Last night Doris and Pierre Boivin arrived for a 2 night stay. They are the parents of Francois Boivin. He competes in snowboard cross. Here in Vancouver he made it to the quarter finals. In the 2006 Torino Olympics he finished 10th overall.
Doris and Pierre gave us some very special blueberry jam and maple syrup from Quebec and an autographed picture of Francois and a flag to hang from our house.
This morning we took them on a tour of Stanley Park and then they invited us to the Canada House. It is a special place for Canadians, where you can meet Canadian athletes and their families. Here we got to meet Francois! We asked him how he felt while walking into the Opening Ceremony. He said it was an indescribable moment when he heard the crowd roar for the Canadians. As for his results in the competition, he was not happy but he was so happy to have been chosen to be part of the Canadian Olympic team. Ha also told us that the atmosphere here in Vancouver is so amazing!
