On Tuesday, March 8th, 2011, Appleby College hosted its fifth annual Race for Dignity challenge in support of Dignitas International – a medical humanitarian organization dedicated to providing a quality of life with dignity for children, youth, and families affected by HIV/AIDS in the developing world. The event raised $36,000.

One of the greatest qualities of summer camp is the close-knit community that returns every year to teach, learn, and have fun. Campers take the one or two weeks out of the whole year they spend at camp to build lifelong friendships with their peers, and the familiar faces of staff become role models who leave a lasting impact that extends beyond the summer. Many campers call themselves “Lifers” – people who will always be involved in camp life. Two of Camp Robin Hood’s lifers, and founders, are Larry and Pearl Bell, who will be marking their 50th year at camp this summer.

Grade Learning, Ontario’s largest full-service education provider, is holding the first ever Grade Book Drive which helps support the literacy efforts of Better World Books (BWB) – a for-profit social enterprise that collects books and sells them online to fund literacy initiatives worldwide. To date, BWB has sold 53 million books and generated over $9 million in funding.
