Week 5 of Design Camp at the Design Exchange in Toronto saw kids aged 7 to 9 designing toys with some of the industry’s star designers!

Stephanie Lemoine of Spin Master Ltd. brought amazing toy design veteran Peter Pook, former VP of design at Fisher Price to the DX to speak with our group about what inspires them and how a stack of cards can lead to a bubble mower!
They ran an actual design exercise with our group where they tossed a stack of cards, each labeled with a noun, verb or adjective, into the air and had the kids each pick up three cards. Combinations like bubble / breakdance / dress, resulted in some interesting ideas from our campers and some fabulous sketches by Stephanie and Peter. Thanks to them both for a peek inside the world of toy design!
