Education is one of the fundamental concerns of any parent and because there is such an abundance of choice these days, it’s a source of stress for many. Not every option is right for every child. Education is a very individual consideration. It’s this reason that makes independent schools a great choice for parents to consider.

Independent schools have resources not always available to public schools, which allows them to focus individually on students. “My four children are all quite different and the school has been very, very good at embracing their individualism,” says Jackie, a parent whose children all attend an independent school. The class sizes are much smaller in independent schools which lends itself to a much more specialized education. It allows children to get more one on one attention from teachers and increases the potential for succeeding in school. “To have my daughters known so well and so thoroughly, and counselled and taught so uniquely appropriate to their characters was the true advantage,” says Ruth Ann.

Independent schools help nurture children’s natural abilities rather than urging them to conform to a broad-based curriculum. This support allows children to tackle new activities and explore a diversity of experiences so that they are better prepared upon leaving school. “If you can graduate at an independent school, it means that your first year university should be pretty straight forward,” says Sunny, the mother of a 17-year-old. Not only will students gain confidence from the support they receive from independent schools, they’ll also attain a great foundation of learning to bring with them when they leave.
