“Mr. Watson and Mr. Brunson, we need to do something to help.”
These were the words, spoken by our concerned students, which sparked a very successful and very delicious pancake fundraiser for Haiti relief. Last week, the communities of Eaton Arrowsmith School and Magnussen School came together to do what we could to support all those struggling to survive in Haiti. Staff and students of both schools were involved in all aspects of the event, from supplying equipment to buying the ingredients, to flipping the pancakes and counting the funds. Parents and students from the schools were able to spend some time reflecting on the importance of this cause, and its’ potential to change lives.
From food/beverage sales and individual donations, within three hours we raised $2576.41 to support the relief efforts in Haiti. We will send the proceeds from the event to UNICEF and, with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) commitment; our efforts will be matched, bringing total dollars raised to $5152.82.

Today we not only helped a nation in need, but we communicated to the children of both schools that a motivated group of caring individuals can achieve great things”.
