About this program

highlights

Our vision is to inspire a natural curiosity towards and genuine love for the natural sciences, as well as its applications in the field of engineering. We aim to do this by immersing students in a series of activities designed to do exactly this. Director's Message

principal

Ming Lee, Managing Director

We offer the STEM training at a recreational and competitive level.  The AEMbots team participates in the First Lego League competition every year.  In January 2017, we received a third place championship award at the Ontario East FLL tournament.  We specialize in preparing students of all levels to explore and reach their full potential for success.

Our objective is to create an enriching learning environment for our students, where they can enhance their knowledge in the field of STEM, whilst improving their public speaking ability.  These skills are able to provide the students with the confidence and work ability that paves the path for a bright future.

Our experienced and accomplished mentors will assist the students in various STEM projects. They will coach the students on how to exemplify core values, such as teamwork, effective communication and leadership skills. They create the opportunity for students to overcome different challenges and help them solve complex problems.

Our Success Stories and Testimonials

I  have absorbed an innumerable number of things at the academy, including knowledge of building, programming, improving my research capabilities, how to work as a team, and how to be a team leader. My favourite experience is being able to have a tight  bond with everyone at the academy and being able to not only be influential to my peers but my community as well

- Miranda, Grade 7

In robotics, you often have to practice skills such as leadership, teamwork, cooperation, basic programming, and responsibility. This will benefit me in ways such as working in future environments. Maybe I will grow up to be an engineer/computer programmer because of my passion for robots that was kindled by these programs and competitions.

- Alice, Grade 7

The academy is fun and good because it makes me actually try and make good sentences. Since it is fun, time goes by quickly. Sometimes the work is straight foward, sometimes it isn't. It is also very quiet so I can concentrate on my work. I like the academy because it helps me learn.

- Ryan, Grade 8

Joining the Academy for Mathematics and English including the robotics FLL team is one of the best choices we have ever made for our son. With private English and Propgramming tutoring, my son now excels at school and is able to help/mentor others in his class. The robotics leadership program is redesigning how kids gather knowledge and skills in the 21st century. My son learned how to work with other team members to identify and solve a problem, manage his time, create presentations, work hard to get the job done, research information, set the goal, and reach maximum potential. Now my son knows how to apply these skills to everyday life.

- Liz Pekerman, Dan's mother

I joined the Academy's FLL team in 2016. Over the past 2 years that I have been on the team, I have gained profuse amounts of knowledge on programming and constructing robots. The program helps to develop your STEM skills and is a great first step for kids interest in the field of science and technology. The FLL program also offers a project where your team aims to find a solution to prominent issues in today's world. My experience with the program allows me to enhance my abilities to work with others, manage time effectively, and learn the value of competition.

- Matthew, Grade 8

I became a part of the Academy's FLL program in 2015. In the past 3 years, I have learned many skills ranging from researching to designing and programming robots, presentation skills, and effectively using visual aids when presenting. The First Lego League program sparks students' interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (or STEM) while teaching students various life skills. FLL has been an exciting experience for me, and I hope to proceed with this experience on a yearly basis.

-Victor Grade 7

This is my first year on the FLL team and I so far, i have had a positive experience. I have learned how to work effectively work with a team, and have enhanced my presentation and lego EV3 programing skills. Our hard work and dedication at the FLL team, allows me to create a special bond with the AEMbots, and lasting friendships i'll always cherish.

Dylan, Grade 8
