Bluffs Performance Athletics is a not-for-profit, Scarborough-based performance fitness company. Our focus is to provide leading edge fitness experiences in vastly underserved Scarborough. Our decision to invest in Scarborough is out of recognition of the beautiful green spaces that abound and serve as the best fitness terrain anywhere in Toronto.
Poorly characterized for some time now, we felt it necessary to show to the community that there is good reason to be proud of Scarborough. Clustering a menu of play filled, fitness opportunities right on Bluffer’s Beach, we train, teach, educate and celebrate an investment in self-care, environmental awareness, and community leadership.
Our aim is to ensure that all of our clients, young and old, appreciate the importance of examining life from a broad perspective. Our view of our selves is complete only when we have incorporated the needs of others. In doing so we learn to care for our bodies intelligently, we ensure the natural space (that is our privilege to have and use) is left in better condition than when we arrived and lastly, each of us is responsible for strengthening the voice of Scarborough and play an active role in supporting that endeavor whenever possible.
As such, Bluffs Performance has worked actively with the City of Toronto to ensure our efforts are successful. We have and will continue to play an active role in community meetings that have revolved around park improvements, enhanced business development and as Stakeholders in the Scarborough Waterfront Project.
We see no reason for parents to drive their kids 2 hours north or into the heart of downtown during rush hour to gain access to programming that rightfully belongs in our own community.
Our objectives are:
- Create a professional, inclusive base for residents to participate in athletic activities, encouraging community engagement and environmental awareness.
- Educate children, youth and adults in the importance of physical literacy, community leadership, environmental awareness and injury prevention.
- Participate in community planning opportunities.
- Provide athletic programs accessible to children, youth and adults. Establish a recreational athletics company for the betterment of community residents.
