As a kid, camp was the most important week of my summer. I wasn't a sporty, outdoorsy kid. I probably would never have been to a summer camp if it hasn't been for Camp Artaban having a fine arts camp. Camp is a special place for a lot of people and the diverse camps offered provided people of all ages and interests an opportunity to have a camp experience.
It's hard not to fall in love with camp. It's beautiful and exciting with so much to do and so many wonderful people. I love the history. I love the spiritual connection I feel when I set foot on camp grounds, but especially in the chapel. At camp I feel loved and supported. I made lifelong friends and had experiences I never dreamed I would have. It's hard to put into words because the thing I love the most is the way I feel when I'm there or when I think about being there. I want nothing more than for my daughter to get to experience the same thing. The first time I took her up with me to visit for the day I felt like I was going to burst from excitement. She has been up twice, just for the day, and I love the way her little eyes take everything in. I can tell she feels that it is a special place just from those short visits. I can't wait until I am able to get her up to an actual camp to get the real experience. I just know she'll love it as much as I do.
