One of the absolute joys of running programs for young people is seeing their reactions when they are engrossed in the activities that our staff has spent months planning. The Skills Work!® Camps are especially rewarding, as grade 7 and 8 kids get excited about having the chance to try their hand at unique activities like cooking a homemade pizza, wiring a real light, checking out the cockpit of an airplane, or creating a geodesic dome. We give our campers a taste of skilled trades and technology careers by letting them enjoy hands-on activities, behind-the-scenes industry tours, and an introduction to entrepreneurship. That’s why our camps are so different and so popular! Our enthusiastic staff and dedicated industry volunteers share their expertise and love of their professions with youth at more than a dozen partner colleges across the province. By getting the chance to explore and try things they would normally not have access to, many of our campers discover that they have an aptitude for pursuits that they may never have thought about before. It is indeed a privilege for Skills Canada-Ontario to be able to offer this journey of discovery, one that has motivated and inspired thousands of young campers since 2001. This program fills up quickly, so reserve your space soon! You will delight in listening to your child’s daily stories about the amazing things they got to do at Skills Work!® Camp.
