Christian Leaders Chime In About Mini-Yo-We

"Mini-Yo-We offers everything I could possibly want in a summer camp; visionary leadership, dedicated staff members, unsurpassed location, and facilities (which are constantly being expanded and improved) that offer exciting opportunities for campers of all ages. I am grateful that my children have had the privilege of attending Mini-Yo-We and experience such an enriching atmosphere."

- Steve Baldry, Chedoke Presbyterian Church, Hamilton

"Mini-Yo-We was foundational in my development. I use the leadership lessons I learned as a cabin leader and section head all the time. The world needs more Mini-Yo-We!“

- Rich Birch, Operations Pastor, Liquid Church, NY

"As I look around at the emerging Christian marketplace and ministry leaders in the GTA one of the common factors for many is that they have been involved in Christian camping and have develop leadership abilities through LIT programs like the one offered at Camp Mini-Yo-We. Camp Mini-Yo-We gives children and students opportunities to grow in confidence as young leaders, develop their abilities and learn to integrate their faith into their everyday experience.  It is why I recommend Christian Camping to students in our church.”

- Andrew Gordon, Lead Pastor, Chartwell Baptist Church, Mississauga

My LIT Experience

My LIT experience was the highlight of my summer! It was the best camp program I have ever done, I met amazing people and grew in my relationship with God.

City Kidz Come To Mini-Yo-We

Recently Camp Mini-Yo-We had the privilege of having several underprivileged campers from an organization called City Kidz in Hamilton. These kids come from a very rough part of town and often do not have many opportunities in life to have fun and we with friends nonetheless go away for a week up north! Fortunately, because of a generous foundation 35 children were able to be taken out of their poverty stricken lives and given an amazing camp experience on beautiful Mary Lake in Muskoka.

The biggest blessing of all was when 3 of the children that came decided that they wanted to pursue a relationship with God which is really what Camp Mini-Yo-We is all about. We can’t wait to see them again and hope they are all doing well!”

Camp Mini-Yo-We's Best Kept Secret

I think our Northwoods program is perhaps the best kept secret at Camp Mini-Yo-We. When I was a camper I convinced my parents to let me come to Northwoods for three sessions. It was an opportunity for adventure, fun, making life long friendships, and an opportunity to learn about Jesus in the midst of his awesome creation. We had experienced leaders, experienced trippers, who showed us how to live in the wilderness. They challenged us to stretch and to grow; to grow physically, mentally, socially and spiritually. I loved it!

More Than Just a Job

Camp has definitely improved my confidence in dealing with
people. As a senior staff member, I am always working with
campers, and talking with parents. The biggest thing
camp has done for me is allow me to step out of my shell
and my comfort zone and walk right up to parents, introduce
myself, talk to them, and really connect with them.

I enjoy doing all the activities with the kids. With
the number of games and activities we do, it is really on the
go, all the time. The boys are between the ages of nine and 15
and they are just off the walls, so it is great to be a part of that.
Even when we are tired, we see the excitement in their eyes,
and we get really excited too.

I learned lots of life skills at camp. Everything from
building to repairing and cleaning to cooking. It has been really
cool to grow and develop as a person, as well as being
there with and for the kids.

I have taken a leave of absence from my full-time
job. The job paid really well, allowed me to travel,
and it was great. But I really felt called or needed here,
and I have been able to apply a ton of skills, really support
everything that goes on at camp and be very involved.
It has been amazing. I absolutely love what I do. I have
always liked being outdoors in the wilderness, and it has been
a really great opportunity for me to pursue that. It is really
cool that camp offers a program that we can try all this out.

Working at camp is more than just a job. Camp is a life
learning experience, one that you never forget, one that will
help you learn, develop and grow as a person for the better.
Things that I have experienced here at camp are things you
can not experience anywhere else.

My most cherished place in the world

This camp is my most cherished place in the world. I was a camper here for a while before joining in on the youth program (Enterprise) and went on to do Leader in Training (LiT) and loved every second of it. I now council every summer and make it my top priority during the summer. This camp is so friendly and has lots of things to do. There is never a dull moment!
