Street & Documentary Camp: Introduction To Photojournalism

Street and documentary photography is all about telling a story through images. It also requires photographers to train their eye to see something special in everyday scenes. This camp will teach teens important techniques so they can effectively communicate the moments and stories they see unfolding in front of them. Campers will have the opportunity to visit a number of locations, including a few National Historic Sites of Canada, to capture newsworthy images.

Topics Covered:

  • Introduction to visual storytelling and photojournalism
  • Black & white photography methods and techniques
  • How to use camera accessories (flashes, different types of lenses, tripod, etc.)
  • Effectively capturing a wide range of subject matter
  • Exploring a few National Historic Sites of Canada through photography
