Ready to cultivate your leadership skills? The CIT program is an intensive and challenging adventure in leadership, personal development and achievement. Through hands-on activities and observation of camp leaders, CIT’s have an opportunity to learn various leadership styles as they develop their own.

With the guidance of our skilled staff, CIT’s will further refine their leadership skills in a supportive setting generous with both feedback and mentorship. Workshops focus on supervision, communication, cooperative games, initiative tasks, anti-bullying, camper management and conflict resolution. CIT’s will continue to personalize their leadership style while promoting team-building and friendships. In their placements CIT’s will shadow a working Camp Counsellor in a real camp setting, where they will then begin their own program planning and interaction with campers -- as a leader!

CIT Graduates of this certificate program will be interviewed for a Harbourfront Centre Camps counsellor position provided they properly apply for the positions available.

Please Note:  Prior to arriving to camp CIT’s will be asked to fill in an information sheet to give our staff a better understanding of the individual’s motivation. There is also an overnight excursion during each CIT session. CIT’s are encouraged to attend as it serves as a valuable tool in team building. Placements will vary throughout the session as all participants are required to work with a wide range of ages.
