Solar energy

published 2007
By Ian Harvey
We've got the only solar boat in North America-the other two are in Belize where they're used for ecotourism. It really serves to demonstrate the whole issue of energy for the kids and shows an application of solar energy in recreational pursuits so that it's not all cooking and heating. I can tell people all I want about solar energy but the boat really grabs their interest. The kids say: "A solar boat? Really? Wow!" Parents are also impressed with it.
