About this camp

highlights

Our small overnight camp will nurture your child’s interests, special requirements and personality. Our camp is way more than riding. While a majority of the time will be spent with the horses, your child will also experience farm life and interact and help take care of our friendly farm animals.  Your child will learn how to 'read the horse' and develop a relationship that will keep them safe. With this knowledge they will be encouraged to apply it to ground and riding skills through some well planed activities. The Horsemanship program will also include solution based games to encourage relationship-building, leadership skills, relaxation and mindfulness.

Director's Message

principal

Sue Solf, Owner and co- facilitator

After years of hosting families from all over the world  it seemed a natural step to add Summer horse camps to the many programs that we offer. I am passionate about horses and what we can learn about ourselves through them. Children are naturals when it comes to being with animals and it is wonderful to see them interact with our friendly horses and other farm animals and to see them grow as humanbeings. Our strength is in nuturing each childs interests and encouraging mindfulness. Our friendly farm animals love the attention they get from the campers and I am sure it is a mutual experience. From collecting eggs to learning how to ride there is always something to do on the farm. Let the journey begin here for happy long lasting memories of time spent on our farm, imersed in nature and healthy living.

Testimonial

We all have such fond memories of our time spent at your farm, and what was especially memorable for the boys, was the time you spent with them and the horses each day. It was the highlight of their trip to Canada and their first real exposure to horses. It was such a positive experience for them. Thank you for your willingness to let them join you each day as you 'played' with the horses. We really did have a great trip and the visit to the farm was just what we had hoped it would be (and much more)

Testimonial

"We had the absolute pleasure and privilege of spending a week at Foymount Farm this month. Our host Sue and her husband Bodo have a little piece of heaven in this beautiful neck of the woods and have opened it up to others to enjoy. The pace is so different from the busy 9-5 we came from that we literally exhaled shortly after our arrival. The main draw were the horses and the magic she seems to share with them. The herd (including four stunning Arabians) were the highlight of the week for us. Sue's connection with and respect for them was evident from the moment we arrived. Growing up around horses I felt I knew my way around them, but she made me realize I could start all over again. The connection really does seem like magic until you start to learn from Sue just how she gets these majestic creatures to work with her. It was a breath of fresh air to see her kindness and love for her animals, not just the horses but the sheep, chickens, goats, cows and the legendary sheep donkey.

Testimonial

After a week at Foymount Farm my daughter came home more independent while displaying a higher degree of respect of animals and people.

She is more aware of the role that body language plays in communication and the values instilled through the horsemanship lessons have had an impact on her everyday interactions.

I watched with interest as the instructions with the horses and while doing chores took into account the personality of each child and every occasion was used to help them improve their interactions with the animals. It was clear that this not only kept the children safe around the animals but also helped them feel comfortable in this new environment.

Foymount Farm's emphasis on sustainable living, a nurturing environment for the animals and the staff's positive outlook on life have stuck with my daughter as she recounts the wonderful experience she had there."
