Focus Learning September 2015 Newsletter
HAPPY FALL 2015!
Our Fall “Back to School” season has been filled with sunshine, learning, and laughter as we begin our fifth year here at our learning centre in North York.
We welcomed some new teachers to our Focus Learning team, who have brought energy, expertise, and fresh ideas to enhance our programs. We have also included some new specialty classes to our Fall 2015 schedule. See our “Featured Classes and Teachers” section for more information!
While getting to know our new students, teachers prepared a fun and educational first few weeks of classes. From planting seeds in “Science Magic” to putting on a show in “Drama Production,” students have already shown how fun learning can be at Focus Learning.

FEATURED CLASSES
3D Printing & Programming
Focus Learning students, parents, and teachers are in awe at all our little MakerBot 3D Printer can do! In our 3D Printing & Programming class, students learn about 3D printing and develop problem solving and design thinking skills.
Students will complete the following units in the 3D Printing Courses:
Young Engineers
Creativity, design, and problem solving shine bright in this Young Engineers class. Students learn how to use brainstorming, creative problem solving, and team work to build and design. Using materials like paper, Lego, cardboard, wood, and other household materials, our Young Engineers learn skills they can use across content areas and in life itself.
Sketching & Drawing
This art class teaches new artists to sketch and draw, while focusing on: shapes and shadows, perspective, and drawing portraits. Students learn to use black/coloured pencils, pen, ink, pastels and chalk to gain artistic skills that can be used in the classroom and in real life.

Play, learn, & get ready for school!
Weekday Mornings at Focus Learning
Kindie Prep. (ages 3-4)
This kindergarten readiness class will use stories, songs, and crafts to prepare your little ones for school. Children will learn important social skills such as making friends, independence, and taking turns. Get ready for kindergarten in our creative learning environment!
Play & Learn (ages 2-3)
A fun learning environment for toddlers and their caregivers to explore, play, create, dance and sing together! Learn through songs, nursery rhymes, stories and crafts.
