The Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems Inc (IRIS), located at 1111 Albion Rd, Unit G1, Etobicoke, ON, M9V 1A9, provides students with STEM-based LEGO educational programs to enlighten students about robotic systems, highlighting their growing impact and several uses today. Students have the opportunity to go beyond the classroom and exercise skills such as creativity and teamwork as they build and program robots.
IRIS’s very own robotics team Intelligent Robo has been participating in FIRST LEGO League Competitions since 2015.
On December 12, 2015, as a rookie team, Intelligent Robo placed second at the FLL Trash Trek Challenge and advanced to the Ontario East Provincial Championships in Oshawa on January 16, 2016. At the East Provincials, Intelligent Robo placed within the top 15 teams and won the Best Mechanical Design Award. Since Intelligent Robo won a core award, the team was invited to compete at the FIRST LEGO League Open European Championship (FLLEOC) in Tenerife, Spain from May 4-7, 2016 as the only team from Canada.
As a rookie team Intelligent Robo had an awesome first year! Intelligent Robo is very thankful for the opportunity to represent Canada amongst 116 teams from 40 countries with a love for LEGO and common goal to make the world a better place was an unforgettable experience! IRIS is excited to recruit and a prepare new members for the 2015 to 2016 school year!
