Mooredale Day Camp is adding four new specialty stream options for senior age campers (9-14 yrs) this coming summer: Performance Swimming, Karate*, Video Game Design, and Photography.
Performance Swimming - For campers who have achieved a minimum Red Cross Swim Level 8, Performance Swimming will be an opportunity to explore the world of competitive swimming. Coached by Mooredale Swim Club instructors, participants will work on stroke development, turns, starts, and dry land training techniques.
Karate* - Long-time Mooredale instructor James Greer, from the Cold Mountain School, designs karate programs especially for children. Using traditional Okinawan Karate, James will help new students learn the basics of karate disciplines and techniques, while deloping the skills and abilities of experienced students.
*also available for Intermediate age campers
Video Game Design - Children interested in the cyber-world of video game creation will love this program. Intructors from AFTERFOUR, who also run our Lego Robotics specialty stream, will teach campers some basic computer and logic skills and help them create their very own games and activities they can take home and play using their home computer.
Photography - Local photographer Nicole Olds is excited to teach and share some techniques and lessons for creating beautiful pictures. Campers will learn some of the basic rules for creating pictures that 'pop' and she will also help them explore the vast world of photo-editing. The session will end with a gallery-like display of the works of art the campers create.
Senior camper specialty activities take place in the afternoon. In the morning, campers take part in traditional camp activities along with Red Cross swimming lessons. Lunch and snacks are provided.
We look forward to seeing you at Mooredale next summer! For more information about our sessions, please see our OKGTC listing or contact Eric, our Camp Director, at 416-922-3714 x 105.
