Stories & Testimonials

The Best Camp Ever!

My daughter loved every day at No Strings: she felt both challenged and respected; she made new friends, some of whom she will see next year in high school; and she loved the opportunity to put on a full-scale music theatre production, and was very proud of the result! As a parent, I was delighted that the camp was everything it was advertised to be. The participants were challenged at their own level, and the camp gave them insight into the practices of the professional theatre world. Information coming from the camp was helpful and reliable. And best of all, at the end we enjoyed a terrific performance! It was a treat to see just how engaged each of the performers was during the show. It was clear that they all enjoyed the experience and had a lot of fun along the way. I hope No Strings continues to offer this terrific program -- there's really nothing else quite like it!

The Friendships

Teens leave the program with new skills, a sense of accomplishment and the joy of meeting others with similar interests. The participants bond almost instantly with their felllow cast mates and forge friendships they never forget.

The Show

Summer 2006 was a fully staged performance of Bye Bye Birdie. Staff and students worked together on costumes, props, set changes and many other aspects of a professional stage profuction. This summer, 2007 will be the Dr Seuss musical, Seussical by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.

The Actors

Our participants are guided to develop team skills and professionalism. Although they work intensively preparing their roles for the show, they have a loads of fun.

The Program

Teens are instructed by professional instructors and directors who work in the field. They focus on improving their technique in singing, acting and dancing as well as technical aspects of a stage production while participating in classes and rehearsing for a fully-staged production.

Because I Knew You...

Everyone is really friendly and gets along well. The whole cast bonded the moment we met. We did everything together and I always found myself sad to go home at the end of rehearsal. I got closer to these people in a week than I have to most of my friends at school. No Strings is the perfect program for someone like me. The experience is unbelievable and I'm so glad I did it. I made friends that I'll never forget.

The directors went above and beyond to make the program amazing. They were really professional and always willing to help. They even participated in special workshops with us. They kept long hours and stayed behind at rehearsals to make sure we got home ok. We could really talk to the whole staff. They are wonderful people, instructors and performers. The directors were more than just mentors, they were friends.

Learning Curves

The costumes and set were amazing. We really were able to get into the style and the time period of the show. We even learned the gavotte and the waltz from a professional choreographer. The instructors were really down to earth and made us all feel comfortable even if we weren't very experienced. By the time we went on stage everyone knew the style really well and could do the steps in their sleep. The quietest person could be found dancing in the hallways. Even if you?re shy, this program will bring out the best in you.

Impromptu Brilliance

Everyone was really multitalented. Even if you're not a trained singer or don't know how to read music, you are still able to learn and have a lot of fun. It was a really professional production and everyone was very relaxed and enthusiastic. Often someone would come in early from lunch and sit down at the piano to start playing. As the cast and crew arrived people would just join in until we were all singing together. It really was amazing.
