Robotic Playgrounds is a hands-on program that explores themes at the intersection of architecture, design and making. In this program, girls will learn about architecture and installation design to reimagine, remix and recreate green spaces and concrete landscapes based on some of Toronto’s most interesting neighbourhoods.
Through observing a number of popular local and international landmarks, we’ll discuss how to make spaces more engaging through sculpture, digital fabrication, electronics and more. Participants will choose a space they’d like to transform (it can be anything from the side of an interesting building, to a parking lot, or even along the shoreline of Lake Ontario) and learn how to prototype and build their installation using Arduino robotics, laser cutting, 3D printing and woodworking.
What will they learn?
