This program combines leadership, peer support and sports training, all of which are essential to those aspiring to be a staff member at camp. Throughout their time at camp, the participants will focus on developing their own skills and knowledge by using a wide range of camp activities.

A positive approach to individual improvement, teamwork, and helping others is what the Leadership Program is all about, and will assist the young adults with achieving their life goals.

In addition the campers participate in numerous certification courses including:

  • Emergency First Aid
  • Bronze Medallion
  • Bronze Cross
  • Pleasure Craft Operator Card
  • Ontario Recreational Canoeing and Kayaking Certification (ORCKA)

This program is designed to meet the GPP30 - Leadership and Peer Support curriculum as outlined by the Ontario Ministry of Education, 2006 Guidance and Career Education Guidelines.

Leadership qualities such as goal setting, building trust, sensitivity to others, risk taking, decision making, effective communication skills, understanding learning styles, team building, maximizing potential and motivating others are learned through this mentoring program. The results of this program are developing productive groups/teams, coaching techniques, counselling skills, creatively designing leadership activities, fitness, nutrition and personal well-being. The leadership program is a prerequisite for all candidates interested in becoming camp counsellors and is recommended for ages 15+.  We are proud that all our counsellors are graduates of this program.
