About this camp

highlights

The YMCA of Western Ontario offers two amazing overnight camps to choose from - YMCA Camp Queen Elizabeth (CQE), located on the rocky shores of Beausoleil Island in Georgian Bay Islands National Park, offers programs for campers 6-16 years of age and YMCA Camp Henry, located in the heart of Point Pelee National Park on Lake Erie, offers programs for campers 5-15 years of age.

At CQE and Camp Henry we believe that living in a group in an outdoor community creates an environment that allows youth to develop the four core values: Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Honesty. Through a wide range of activities we encourage campers to challenge themselves, learn new skills, have fun and develop friendships that will last a lifetime.

YMCA of Western Ontario Overnight Camps, Beausoleil Island, Georgian Bay, Honey Harbour, Ontario
Join us Saturday, June 02 from 10:00 am - 02:00 pm

Our Open House is a fantastic time to tour the camp, see the buildings, meet the staff, and spend the day as a family at YMCA Camp Queen Elizabeth. Seeing the island and getting a taste of camp life is a wonderful introduction to the summer camp experience. If you are planning to attend the Open House, please RSVP to [email protected] before May 25, 2018 and we will sign you up for a boat time. Once you sign up for a boat to the island, you are automatically scheduled for a boat back to the mainland 3 hours later. This ensures that everyone will be able to visit the island and not have a long wait for the boats. If you come on the Saturday and did not RSVP, we will do our best to get you across to the island, however we can not guarantee a boat time.

    Family, friends and pets welcome!

Kelly Reynolds and Campbell MacGillivray, Camp Director

Hello!

Thank you for your interest in YMCA Camp Queen Elizabeth and YMCA Camp Henry.  We're so excited that you're thinking of joining us next summer.  At our YMCA camps we believe in creating a welcoming environment where every camper feels at home.  Central to our program philosophy is the belief that living in a group in an outdoor community creates an environment that allows our campers to develop the four core values: Respect, Responsibility, Caring and Honesty. Through a wide range of activities, we encourage our campers to challenge themselves and develop friendships that will last a lifetime.

Meet our Camp Directors

Kelly Reynolds, Camp Director of YMCA Camp Henry

A long time camper, Kelly started attending YMCA camps when she was 10 year old and was quickly hooked on overnight camp!  She has an extensive background in YMCA overnight camping, working in the industry for over a decade. Before working for YMCA Camp Henry she has worked as the Assistant Director with YMCA Camp Queen Elizabeth – one of only 2 camps other than Camp Henry lucky enough to be located in a Canadian National Park. Kelly has also worked at the YMCA Cedar Glen Outdoor Centre and YMCA Camp Wanakita in various positions.  Kelly completed her Bachelors of History at Queen’s University and her Bachelor of Education at Brock University. In the winter seasons she loves to get out teaching skiing lessons as much as possible. Kelly has always considered camp a home away from home and she is already excited to move back to the point for Camp Henry’s second year!

Campbell MacGillivray, Camp Director or YMCA Camp Queen Elizabeth

Campbell is a long time CQE staff member having worked with CQE for 7 seasons in different positions and she is looking forward to another season on the island full of fun, friendship and adventure.   Campbell brings a wealth of experience to her role as Camp Director and has always had a passion for working with youth.  Campbell has also worked with the YMCA-YWCA of Guelph as an Early Childhood Educator Assistant and with the YMCA of Greater Toronto, and attended the University of Guelph, completing a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Camp Henry Story

A big thank you to the awesome YMCA Camp Henry staff for an amazing week at Family Camp! Whether it was learning to properly cut wood and make a fire, to the essential joy of being outdoors at camp and biking the trails and kayaking, we all had a blast.

CQE Story

We are grateful to the staff at CQE for welcoming my daughter into the camp community and treating her with dignity and respect.

Camp Henry Story

I just wanted to take a minute to say thank you! I have 2 of the happiest kids ever. A little background for you. My oldest daughter is 11 and had a previous bad camp experience. She was so scared to head to your camp this year. Lots of tears leading up to camp day. My 5 year old had never been to camp. She's more outgoing but was obviously a little nervous. I picked them up last night. They have had both had nothing but good things to say about camp. We've already discussed them coming back next year. Again thank you so much. Looking forward to this new annual tradition with you.

Camp Henry Story

Thank you everyone for such a great week! Our daughter cried for about 30 minutes in the car ride home, already missing her new friends. I asked her what she would give Camp Henry out of 10 and she said "more than 10". Our son stayed awake the night he got home, trying to figure out his counsellor's magic tricks. He also can't stop talking about riding a bike without training wheels - I don't know how you guys did it, but you helped him overcome his fear. Thanks again everyone. What an amazing experience. They will both will be back again next year!

CQE Story

I like that my children were able to make new friends.  One of my daughters has a hard time at school and the smile on her face when she came off the boat and all of her friends gave her a hug was amazing.

CQE Story

Camp Queen Elizabeth has shaped my life in so many incredible ways.  I would not be the person I am today without the people I've met, activities I've participated in, and skills I've learned.  Every year I come to camp it only gets better and better, and I hope it continues to do so forever.

Camp Henry Story

Very happy with YMCA, the staff were excellent. The program was well organized and I had no issues with dropping my daughter off for the week. I was confident that she would have a great experience and that she would want to go every year. Overall, very pleased and I really hope we can get in again next year.

Camp Henry Story

My daughter absolutely loved going, this was her first experience at an overnight camp and can't stop talking about next year. She would like to stay longer if possible at Camp Henry!

Camp Henry Story

The staff at Camp Henry were amazing, the location is in a perfect spot. I was thrilled about the Camp Henry experience. Thank you so much.

CQE Story

This was my son’s first summer away at CQE, but NOT his last. He enjoyed camp so much. He loved all aspects and could not pick just one favorite thing. He is still wearing his swim test bracelet because he wants to remember his time, and to count how many times he has gone to CQE. I am thinking that this was the most positive thing that could have happened to him this summer. I could not have been able to afford it without the help of YMCA Strong Kids.  The whole reasoning behind my son going was so that he could be a carefree child for two weeks and not worry about things going on at home. You and all the supporters of YMCA Strong Kids made that happen for him. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

CQE Story

Dear CQE, Thanks for making going to camp possible and giving me so many happy memories.  If it weren't for your generosity I would never have known what it feels like to jump into refreshing lake water, make so many friends, overcome my stage fright, find out that watermelons float, and countless other things.  I look forward to going to camp all year because I know it's a place where I can be weird and crazy without anyone judging me and even being crazy back!  When I get back home, my first thought is about how I already miss it and how campsick (opposite of homesick) I am.  I hope you know how happy going to camp makes me and probably everybody else too.  I've learned so many thing there and I can't wait to come back.
