Leadership 2: Venture LIT (July 1-28, 2018 OR July 29- August 25, 2018)
For campers 16 years of age

This program is one of two options as the second step in Camp Queen Elizabeth’s leadership training program.  The Venture LIT program is a co-ed one month program (either July or August), featuring an a three and a half week wilderness canoe trip on the Missinaibi River in July and in Woodland Caribou Provincial Park/Bloodvein River in August. While the Leadership 1 program focuses on personal skill development and leadership within their peer group, the Venture LIT program focuses on leadership in a wilderness environment, decision-making, and the further development of tripping skills.

There will be a whitewater clinic offered for all participants June 1-3, 2018 held at CQE. Transportation is provided and participants will be contacted in May to provide details for the weekend.

Prerequisites: Participants must be 16 years old by December 31, 2018. It is recommended that participants must have completed CQE’s Leadership 1 program, or an equivalent leadership program elsewhere and that they have their Bronze Cross swimming level, however these are not required. Participants must be comfortable and competent canoeists and swimmers, with past experience on canoe trips.

High School Credit

YMCA Camp Queen Elizabeth partners with the YMCA Academy www.ymcaacademy.org to offer an accredited Ontario high school credit within our Delaware, LIT, and Venture LIT programs. The majority of the credit requirements will be completed by everyone in the Delaware, LIT, and Venture LIT programs, but will only be graded for credit participants. Participants in the high school credit program must also be registered in either our Leadership 1: Delaware Program or one of our Leadership 2 programs. This is not a stand alone program. Course outlines can be found below, and Strong Kids Financial Assistance is available to families who qualify. For more information, contact [email protected] for more details.
