Help Me Find a Camp

Choosing the right camp or program for your child

No matter how old your child is or what interests they have, there is a camp or program available to suit their needs. Whether you’re looking for a traditional overnight camp, specialized program, or day camps that will teach a little bit of everything, choosing the right place for your child is a big decision; so invest some time in making the right choice!

Start Early

  • Start researching ahead of time because by the end of winter, camps and programs have already started filling up for the summer and March break
  • A great way to decide where to send your child is to assess your needs, your child’s needs and what you’re looking for, then tailor your search appropriately
  • Talk to other parents to see which camps and programs their child has attended
  • Visit camp websites and obtain information packages (here's a link to more than 185 camps)
  • Attend camp visitor days (here's a list of upcoming information sessions)

Start to finish: Involve your child

  • Review camp packages with your child and ask them what they are looking for in a camp
  • Take them to an information session and allow them to ask questions
  • Allow your child to be a part of the final decision

Day Camp, Overnight Camp, or a Program?

This is a big decision for parents to make. Here are a few questions to ask yourself to find out if your child is ready for an overnight camp, or if they should consider a day camp or program instead.

  • Is your child comfortable with sleeping over at a relative or friend's home?
  • Can your child adjust to new routines such as a wake up time and set meal times?
  • Does your child have a regular sleeping pattern? If not, overnight camp might not be ideal at this time
  • Does your child have a friend going to camp at the same time?
