Dyslexia Camps

Kids with dyslexia have special needs and many summer camps and March break camps understand those needs and make the camp experience as awesome as possible. Learn all about camps for dyslexic kids, what they have to offer and what special considerations they make concerning the camp environment and counselor training. Camps below specialize in dealing with children suffering from dyslexia.

Dyslexia camps are ideal for some kids due to the special needs of children who learn differently. These camps are usually learning and fun camps combined together. Dyslexia camps enable dyslexic children to improve their reading, spelling and writing. Cognitive training is the most helpful treatment for dyslexia.

Campers may spend sessions practicing basic reading, writing, and math and benefit from one-on-one training. The counselors and teachers at these camps are experts in dealing with the issues associated with this learning disability and learning challenges. The trained educators are well versed in teaching children who learn differently. A professional screening assessment may also be conducted. In addition, Arts and Crafts, sports, backpacking, canoeing and language training are also covered.

A bit more about dyslexia
Developmental reading disorder (DRD) or dyslexia is a reading disability that can affect children's cognition.

Dyslexia may appear in combination with developmental writing disorder and developmental arithmetic disorder. Most people with dyslexia have normal intelligence or even above-average intelligence. Dyslexia and related language-based learning disabilities are quite common as they affect 15-20% of the population. Catching symptoms at an early age can help in understanding the disorder better. There is no cure for dyslexia but students can improve their skills at dyslexia camps. Camps that specialize in dealing with dyslexia make the summer camp experience that much better.
