Great Canadian Writing Contest March 01, 2007

Students in Grades 5 and 6 across Canada have the opportunity to see their stories published. The GMAC Great Canadian Writing Contest managed by ABC CANADA Literacy Foundation, is designed to engage children in writing by providing a free, fun and exciting challenge.

To enter the contest, students are asked to submit an original story in English or French of no more than 200 words, along with an illustrated "book cover" to go along with it. This year's contest theme is FAMILY.

The contest closes April 16, 2007. Submit your entries by March 14, 2007 to be included in a random draw for the Early Bird Prize: a visit by Canadian children's author Kenneth Oppel to their school, library or family literacy program.

This is an excellent program for schools and families to get involved in. Visit : www.gmacgreatcanadianwritingcontest.ca for full contest details, to read stories from last year's winners and download entry forms. Get your children writing!
