Camp Life

A natural connection

Children uncover the mysteries and connections of our natural world

Camp is a place to make new friends, have fun and build memorable life experiences. And what life experience could be more important for children than being introduced to the awareness and care of their own natural environment?

There is now a broad consensus in Canada and the world that climate change is happening, that it is a serious problem and that humans are causing it. A close connection with nature is important, especially for children in their early years. It helps to shape their outlook toward the natural world around them and, hopefully, establishes an appreciation for it within them.

Through a variety of interactive "ecology" activities, children come to knowledge and understanding in an exciting, enjoyable hands-on fashion. Like most camps, we put a lot of planning into our programs, using fun, stimulating and humorous introductions; songs, games and crafts; and lots of camper participation. Children uncover the mysteries and connections of our natural world before their very "senses."

Teaching young campers the important relationships between humans–animals–plants–trees and the environment helps them realize that we are all interconnected. Children become inspired with the knowledge that they can make a difference by contributing towards preserving nature and their environment, and continue to lead their lives in a way to protect it.
