Our world is a small place. International events flood the news and we respond emotionally, intellectually and often in a tangible way. Increasingly, events in one part of our global village affect the lives of others far away. As educators, we seek ways to develop our students' understanding of our global village and their responsibility as citizens of the world. This philosophical belief forms the backdrop to the External Studies program at St. Mildred's-Lightbourn School (SMLS), which is now in its seventh year.
