High schools listed here have produced top international rowers, including Olympic gold medalists! Find the best sports programs in Canada's private schools! Canada's private schools are known around the world for their rowing programs. Rowing schools listed here have produced numerous Olympic champion rowers.

Today, rowing schools attract more students as the popularity of this sport grows in Canada thanks to champions produced here (many of them in private schools listed on this page). Rowing is the ultimate team sport and one of the best non-impact overall body activities. Even if you are not interested in achieving Olympic fame, this is a great participation sport. Achieving proper technique in rowing is a never-ending challenge. It exercises the major muscle groups and involves no body contact or jarring of the joints. Rowing also helps improve both strength and cardiovascular performance.

What Canada's best rowing schools offer

Most rowing schools offer daily access to a lake or river and a large fleet of boats. Many of the best rowing schools are boarding schools where rowers are afforded lots of access to boats and equipment. This creates an environment where it's very easy to immerse yourself in learning techniques, practicing with others and getting better all the time. The emphasis in these schools is mainly on learning. Regular training camps in rowing are conducted in the holidays. You'll be able to participate in singles, doubles, fours and eights and learn your best fit.

All coaches are professionals well experienced in the sport. A great deal of learning and water time is available at rowing schools. Rigging, weight lifting, nutrition, race topics, boathouse set-up, coaching launch driving, trailer loading and driving are covered in rowing programs. Cross training, erg technique, strength and conditioning are also emphasized. Dry land and on-water sessions are part of the curriculum.
