Anxiety is a mental health issue. People with this mood disorder have intense, relentless feelings of distress and fear. They can also have excessive and persistent worry about everyday situations, and repeated episodes of intense anxiety or terror.
According to the Mayo Clinic, these feelings of anxiety interfere with daily activities, are difficult to control, are out of proportion to the actual danger, and can last a long time. Symptoms may start during childhood or the teen years and continue into adulthood.
