Private day schools offer parents the greatest selection of schools for their child. Parents are able to provide their children with a top-notch education while they still live at home. For those families that require extra care, many independent and private schools offer before- and after-school programs.
"The young ones can get quite upset if you pick them up too early,” says Laura Crumb, the head of school at Rotherglen School in Oakville, Ontario. "Usually, they don’t want to leave."
Often, homework is complete before parents pick up their children, maximizing free time at home.
"I think it's probably important not to have all of your experiences happening in one setting," says Rena Upitis, an education professor at Queen’s University in Kingston Ontario. "There is certainly evidence that kids who are well-adjusted socially thrive from being in private day schools."
There are many types of day schools available for your child including language schools, Montessori and Waldorf schools, advanced study programs such as Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate, and creative art, music, drama and dance schools.
Day schools also offer lots of opportunity for parents to be involved and volunteer. This way parents can give their children a high-quality education while remaining actively involved in their lives. |
