On Thursday, September 24th, Bond Academy held the first Meet-the-Teachers evening for the 2015 fall semester.
“Education is constantly changing, and what we have to teach is constantly changing.” John Healey, Principle of Bond Academy, said. He mentioned that if parents believe that education is all about only what happens in the classroom, then they are missing the big picture. “It’s no doubt that the academics are important, but the most important subject that the student has is themselves. That is why at Bond, we teach students sports, how to have a healthy lifestyle, confidence, and personal life skills as well as academics.” Mr. Healey said.
Rita Simmons, Chair of Parent Council at Bond Academy introduced all the members of the Parent Council to the parents, and welcomed the new members to join the Bond family. The current Parent Council Executive includes Rita Simmons (Chair), Larisa Trabulsi (Vice-Chair), Lisa Bergeron (Treasurer) and Andrea Gondova (Secretary).
“It’s a great school. Not only for the academics, but also the sports, the arts and the good balance of everything; good kids, who are responsible and polite. It’s just a good environment.” Pauline Walters, mother of Grade 5 student Paige Walters, said. Pauline Walters is also a member of the Parent Council at Bond. She said: “It’s awesome, as my daughter says to me every day. My daughter has been lucky enough to have some really great teachers. They are really supportive, and you can really work in a team environment. English and arts have been Paige’s favorite subjects at Bond.”
“Paige has been at Bond since Grade 2, and it’s been fantastic. It’s definitely a good experience.” Paige’s father Courtney Walters said. When asking what they like about Bond Academy, he said: “The flexibility for parents to drop off kids in the morning and pick them up in the evening. You know that your child is in a safe environment, and the school will take good care of the kids.”
