Our drive to inspire leadership is enabling HNMCS girls to soar to new heights. Congratulations to Kendra Tatemichi '15 & alumna Daniella Ferrari '14 who were among 76 students from Quebec, Ontario and Nova Scotia to receive their Gold Duke of Ed award from HRH Princess Anne on February 19th.
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award has become an important pillar in the education of young women at Holy Name of Mary College School as it is designed to encourage the qualities of self-reliance, initiative, self-improvement and personal responsibility. Students who achieve this award become active, healthy and involved in their community, which is essential for their future and the future of our communities. Achieving this award is an asset to a student’s personal development and is very valuable on applications for scholarship, university entrance, employment resumes.
The Duke of Edinburgh's Award is a self directed development programme for young Canadians age 14 to 25. It will equip students with life skills to make a difference in themselves, their community and country. There are three Award levels to achieve: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Achieving an award is as easy as setting and achieving your personal goals in the four areas of the programme: Community Service, Skills, Physical Recreation and Adventurous Journey.
