Our new sensory light room provides light room provides a calming environment for our students. Thank you to our wonderful OT staff for their creative efforts.
The final thing we will be adding is a functional tactile/fidget wall – the idea is to have a bunch of everyday items mounted to the wall so that the kids can experiment and play with them at their own pace. We want these items to be able to give cool cause and effect properties, be naturally motivating to use, and provide the sensory input our kids are looking for (e.g. spinning items, objects falling and rolling, little items and textures to occupy their hands) all while developing functional skills (such as doing up fasteners and buckles).
Sound and light is integrated into this amazing space. Many students are schedules into this space as part of their daily therapy under OT supervision.
