In celebration of Earth Day, we at GAA decided to expand our celebrations all month long, and dedicated April as 'Earth Month.' We kicked off our festivities by participating in 'Sweater Day', we turned the temperature down and rocked our wackiest, and most favourite sweaters. On April 15, the Green Team participated in a field trip to Green Venture Eco-House, where students learned about the importance of sustainability, and how to implement some small changes that have big impacts. On Earth Day, some of our Highlanders wrote and shared their very own poetry that they wrote just for the special day. Also, our Junior Choir prepared a wonderful Earth Day musical treat. Students worked diligently in their art classes through the month of April to create collaborative up-cycled art pieces, made primarily out of recycled items. On April 28&29, the Green Team participated in a school yard
clean up, to beautify our property. As a part of our Earth Month challenges, students participated in litterless lunch week, recycling week, compost week, and energy conservation week. Lastly, all Green Team members prepared up-cycled items, on their own time, to showcase during announcements. Way to go GAA! You definitely got your green on!
