GAA in the News

Computer Science Education Week: December 5-9th

This week at GAA, we recognize Computer Science Education Week. GAA plans to host an Hour of Code event designed to demystify "code", to show that anybody can learn the basics, and to broaden participation in the field of computer science. Hour of Code has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with 1-hour coding activities but expanding to all sorts of community efforts. Computer Science Education Week is held annually in recognition of the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (December 9, 1906).

Movie Night: December 2nd

On Friday December 2nd, students arrived to school in their pajamas with sleeping bags and pillows to curl up and watch a Christmas movie. Pizza, popcorn, cookies and juice were enjoyed by all. Special thanks to GAAPTA for organizing and supervising the event, as well as GAA alumni that returned to volunteer for this fun night out!

Christmas Play

On Thursday December 8th, the GAA school community gathered for our annual Christmas concert. This year’s production, Alice in Christmas Land, was made possible by the tireless work of dedicated students, teachers, volunteers as well as the props and costume team, set design committee and musical ensemble. A wonderful night was had by all in attendance. Well done to the talented cast!

Burlington Post

It's very exciting news that GAA was featured in our local paper, spreading the news about what we are doing with our shoe drive. Hopefully it will inspire others to do the same and help spread kindness.

We are at over 800 pairs of shoes, and the shoes will be delivered tto S4S next week. They will then be on their way to the people of Haiti.

We are so proud of the response we have had from the students and families, and we should all be very proud of what we are doing to help others on a global level.

We will continue to collect shoes until June.
Thank you Mrs. Nardone for spearheading this fundraiser.

Giving Tree Winter Outerwear Clothing Drive: December 9th, 2016

We are pleased to announce the winning class of the Giving Tree Outerwear Clothing Drive is the Grade 6 class, with a total of 251 items collected! As a result of their efforts, the Grade 6 class will be awarded with a pizza party and casual day on Tuesday December 13th. Together, the school collected over 500 winter outerwear items to donate to families in need this holiday season. Items will be donated to the Compassion Society of Burlington to distribute to needy families in our local community. Thanks to all who participated to make a difference!
