Guest Speaker: Athletic Therapist
On Monday February 6th 2017, the Kindergarten classes were surprised with a guest speaker. Her name is Jessica Kennedy and she is an Athletic Therapist. She came to our class during a health lesson to help us learn about the bones in our body. She taught us that there are 206 bones in our body, 27 of those bones are in 1 hand. She also taught us the names of the biggest bones in our body. We now know about our ribs, humorous, radius, skull, femur and pelvis. We had a lot of hands-on fun learning how she helps someone when they hurt a bone in their body. We got to try on splints, slings and braces. Everyone in the Kindergarten classes were very excited and engaged the whole time. We look forward to our next guest speaker!
Charity week
The week of February 13-17, students participated in Charity Week at school in order to continue raising funds as part of our global projects in Me to We, or Free the Children Charity. Students participated in a Valentine’s Skate, Crazy Hair Day, Crazy Hat Day, Candy Guess, and Candy Grams in order to show their support. We raised over $400 for the Me to We charity!
Polar expressions
On Friday February 17th, GAA students were recognized for their contributions to Polar Expressions.
Students selected for their Short Story Entries, to be part of this year’s Polar Expressions student anthology, ranged from Kindergarten to Grade 8. Well done GAA!
Random Acts of kindness
GAA celebrated Random Acts of Kindness Day on February 17th. Free compliment posters, kindness riddles and a “complimentary tree” were created on the H2 bulletin board display in order to emphasize the importance of kindness in our school community.
