Trafalgar School for Girls wins Quebec Provincial Debate Tournament

Congratulations to Grade 9 students Sydney Joy and Gabriella Martucci who won the Quebec Student Debating Association Junior Provincial Tournament today. The finals topic was "Be It Resolved That This House Would Make Vaccinations Mandatory."  The team will now represent Trafalgar at the Junior National Debating Championships in Winnipeg from May 8 to 10, 2015.

Trafalgar hosted day-one of the tournament which concluded at LCC. The event saw many members of the #TrafFamily involved from students acting as timers, runners, and greeters, to parents, past-parents, retired faculty and alumnae debaters returning to judge. Katie Rochford, Class of 2011, and Traf's former Debate Coach, is currently Vice-President of the Quebec Student Debating Association.

Kudos to both Traf teams who competed at the tournament, and to Coach Zack Baker and Ms. Fainsilber who work with Traf's Debating Team throughout the year. The debating team is one of many co-curricular activities at the school.
