Find a list of schools

It is difficult to ascertain how many students are currently enrolled in Montessori classrooms. The name Montessori is in the public domain, and thus not legally protected, so there are many schools using the name with varying standards. Unable to protect her own name, Dr. Maria Montessori established the Association Montessori Internationale (A.M.I.) to protect the philosophy, the method and the training of Montessori educators.

There are approximately 500 Montessori schools in Ontario (of various standards). Lacking specific statistics for the numbers of children who are in Montessori schools, an estimate would be between 40,000 and 50,000.
