Our school has earned an excellent reputation since its inception in 1969. Blaisdale was founded by Mrs. Eleanor Wilson, who like any parent, wanted the best for her children and found it in the Montessori approach.
Following Dr. Maria Montessori’s dictum, “the best for the child”, Blaisdale encourages the development of the whole child which includes the arts. While “academics may be the heart of education, the arts are surely its soul.” and as such, our cultural activities include ballet, piano lessons, band, drama, choir, music and art appreciation. In a warm and nurturing environment, we strive to develop self-discipline, self-respect, independence, co-operation with others, initiative, concentration and self-confidence. The Montessori “prepared environment” invites the child to explore materials that encompess the senses, practical life skills, cultural activities and, of course academics. (By the time our children are six, they know the numbers from 1 to 9,000, including adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing and can read at a Grade 2 level...at least!)
