At Madrona small is big. Madrona is a small school which features big ideas. Small pupil-teacher ratio (1:7 in core subjects) = big focus on the individual. Small school size = big family atmosphere. Small classes = highly individualized learning opportunities. At Madrona, we value small as a core benefit, not a liability. Our educational goals and results, however, are anything but small. Simply put, we believe in a deep emphasis on traditional core skills, wedded to an increasing growth in student autonomy during their time at Madrona. Our children enter the school excited each day and leave fulfilled, happy, and looking forward to the next day. A warmly challenging curriculum, developed and delivered by exceptional teachers, ensures outcomes which deliver the "Did I just do that?" feeling to children, and the "Did I just see that?" reaction in teachers. Madrona just works. And now it works for students from Grades 1 through 9.
Madrona School is a small school for bright and motivated learners. Our mission is to provide each child with the richest academic and social experience; we aim to foster in our students confidence, love of learning, and gradually increasing autonomy. With the above and a special emphasis on citizenship in the later years, we equip them for future success and happiness. All children learn at a level appropriate to their ability, as opposed to their grade level. Differentiation is the norm at Madrona.
