Town Centre Private High School (TCPHS) offers a systematic, sequenced curriculum, caring discipline, high academic standards and sound instructional leadership in a supportive environment where specialist teachers instruct classes with a very low student to teacher ratio. TCPHS operates on a semester system allowing students much more flexibility in choosing courses and in starting school in mid-year. An emphasis on communication between teachers and parents is crucial, and teachers consult students and parent on a regular basis. Town Centre Private High School is a Ministry of Education inspected school whose credit courses are recognized by all secondary schools, universities and colleges throughout Canada. The Advanced Placement (AP) Program, at TCPHS, offers motivated High School students the opportunity to take challenging university-level courses while still in High School. Successful completion of an Advanced Placement examination can result in a university credit, advanced standing, or both, depending on the university the student wishes to attend. To prepare students for the AP program we have initiated a Pre-Advanced Placement program for students in grades 7 thorough 11. TCPHS is a member of the Small School Athletic Federation (SSAF) and the York Region Athletic Association (YRAA). Both of these sports leagues offer our students the chance to tryout and compete against other schools in inter-school competitions. School organizations include the Student Activity Council (SAC), Model United Nations (MUN) and DECA and a variety of extra-curricular clubs. Town Centre Montessori Private Schools (TCMPS), offers an elementary private school program for Grades 1 – 8. Based on the current Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum, TCMPS offers a well-rounded academic program with enrichment and acceleration being provided in the core subjects on English, math, science and social studies. Elementary classes feature a low student/teacher ratio with 2 teachers per class. Additional subjects such as French, computer studies, music/band and physical education, are taught by specialized teachers. In September 2005 the school implemented the new Advanced Placement (AP) Program in our High School. As a link we also initiated our Pre-AP program for our grade 7-11 students. The purpose of the Pre-AP program is to prepare students for the university curriculum contained in the AP courses. The grade eight students at TCMPS all have the opportunity to participate in the reach ahead program. The enriched program offered will give students entering Town Centre Private High School a distinct advantage in that they will have completed a Grade Nine Geography course. The Summer Camp is a combination of a variety of sports, computer studies, martial arts, science, music, drama/art and academics. Campers also participate in fun-filled theme days and exciting field trips. The program offers flexibility with enrollment available from 1 to 8 weeks and we continue to offer the no cost extended care from 7:00 am - 6:30 pm throughout the summer. Town Centre Montessori Private Schools (TCMPS), offers a Pre-School Montessori program for students between the ages of 2 and 6 in a safe and friendly environment. Students are accepted into the program anytime throughout the year provided that they are at least 2 years of age and toilet trained. We offer a flexible program and students can attend either a full day or half day program. The academic day is from 9:00 am – 3:30 pm with no extra cost extended care from 7:00 am – 6:30 pm. Our classes feature a low student / teacher ratio with each class having 2 caring teachers. The TCMPS Montessori program includes theme-based history, geography and science instruction, daily French, computer studies, physical education and the Orff music program taught by specialized teachers. Monthly field trips and visitors provide an important element of enjoyment and enhances the students’ educational experience. In addition to the no extra cost extended care program, the School offers a wide variety of After School Courses to our TCMPS families. Students can register for a variety of programs including piano and theory lessons, choir, Kindermusik®, creative dance, pre-primary ballet, Kindersports, pre-primary sports, French club, computer club, Mad ScienceTM, young-at-art and needlecraft classes. These programs are held at the Pre-School campuses making them very popular and convenient for parents. During the 2006-07 school year, Town Centre Montessori Private Schools, also known as TCMPS, celebrated its 20th year of excellence in education. Founded in 1986, TCMPS is one of Canada's largest Montessori-based Private Schools. TCMPS has three distinct divisions: a Montessori Pre-School, an Elementary Private School and a Private High School. Prospective students may enroll in the Montessori Pre-School Program as young as 2 years of age provided they are toilet trained. The School offers a flexible program allowing students to attend 3 to 5 full days or half days per week. For students in Grades 1 to 8, TCMPS offers a non-Montessori, Elementary Private School Program. The Montessori Pre-School program is not a pre-requisite for admission to our Elementary Program. Our Elementary Program has an accelerated program, surpassing the current Ontario Ministry of Education curriculum. Town Centre Private High School (TCPHS), offers advanced, University bound courses on a co-educational basis with the option of enrolling in Advanced Placement Courses. The capable and motivated student may thus earn recognized University credits while enrolled in our High School. TCPHS is a Ministry of Education inspected school and its credit courses are recognized by all secondary schools, Universities and Colleges throughout Canada. The School accepts students from Pre-School to Grade 12. The school has a long-standing tradition of providing students from Pre-School to Grade 12 with a challenging curriculum focusing on traditional academic subjects.
